East Thurrock United 2 v 0 Harrow Borough
EAST Thurrock United competed their home fixtures with a comfortable 2-0 victory against Harrow Borough.
Sam Higgins took no time t put the Rocks in the lead when he broke free and blasted the ball home in the 4th minute.
The Rocks have taken the foot off the gas in recent weeks so it was good to see them on the offensive. Both James Walker and Tom Wraight went close as they tried to extend their lead.
Rocks also put in a number of lovely one touch moves that gave the impression that this team have plenty in the tank and cannot wait for the play-offs.
A Kris Newby rocket flew past the post as it looked like the second goal was a matter of time.
Harrow’s first chance of the game nearly produced a goal when Kane Jones was just inches from latching onto a cross.
At the other end, Sam Higgins produced a lovely turn and shot that went straight at the keeper.
Sometimes you are too good and when Kris Newby produced a great cross Tom Wraight could only head it backwards with his face!
Harrow Borough may not have much to fight for but they had a lot of purpose and discipline as they put the Rocks under pressure in the second half.
Borough were playing an attractive expansive game that was entertaining the fans.
The Rocks never looked in trouble but their keeper made an impressive save after a Harrow break.
The Rocks wrapped it up with an 87th minute goal by Tom Wraight from close range.
They have on game left away at Lewes before they face the play-offs.
