THURROCK’S endurance athletes had a busy and successful time last weekend, mainly at the County Championships in Chelmsford.
The young runners brought back 4 medals. Harry Parker’s silver was won by a pb effort in the under 15 1500 metres in a time of 4m 32.46s. Another silver was won by Amber Pullinger in the under 17, 1500m. Her time was 4m 47.46s.
The hard earned bronzes came from Hayley Instance in the under 15 1500m with a 4m 57.27 performance. Dylan Harrod bronze came from a 5m 12s effort in the under 13, 1500m.
There were some good pbs from other members of the Brenda Stone group. Sam Smith’s 2m 6.9s in the under 20s, 800m caught the eye. Taylor Newell’s pb in the under 17 1500m was also a good step forward. Joe Logan was also happy with his 1500m time of 4m 34.9s. Hayley Instance appeared on both days of the championship and in the 800m returned a pb in the heats of 2m 23.75s.
Also winning medals was ever present Michael Shortall who took bronze medals in both of the senior hurdles events.

Good news from Loughborough where Alec Finch returned a big pb of 1m 57.8s. When he returns at the end of this term he will be a much needed boost for the senior men’s team.

Rounding up the Parkruns Sarab Dhillon equalled his 18m42s and Veteran Martin Mack returned a pb 20m35 for the 5k outing. Toby Draper’s 18m55s at Basildon was yet another step forward for the ever improving veteran.
