Police appeal after two men stabbed in Chafford Hundred

ESSEX Police are appealing for information after two men were stabbed, leaving one in a serious condition.

Officers were called shortly after 11pm on Tuesday May 17 with reports of a disturbance involving a group of about six men in Drake Road, Chafford Hundred, near the junction with Fenton Road.

An 18-year-old man had been stabbed in the neck and a 22-year-old man had been stabbed in the leg.

The victims, both from the Thurrock area, were taken to hospital. The first victim remains in a serious condition. The second victim’s injuries were serious but not life threatening.

Officers carried out an extensive search of the area, assisted by a police helicopter, and enquiries are ongoing to locate the suspects.

Scene guards are currently in place in the Fenton Road area of Chafford Hundred while forensic examinations take place and extra patrols are in place to provide reassurance to the local community.

Detective Inspector Alison Hooper, of Grays CID, said: "We believe the suspects left the scene in a dark coloured vehicle and I am appealing for witnesses who saw what happened, or anyone with information who has yet to speak to us, to please come forward.

"I would also ask local residents to please call us urgently if they find any weapons discarded near to the scene.”

They are asked to contact Grays CID on 101. Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org
