LAST weekend, four swimmers from Thurrock Swimming Club attended the level 1 long course meet in Luton.
Gracie Mae Martin swam fantastically this weekend, beating her 200m freestyle personal best by 3 seconds. Gracie went on to increase her personal best by 14 seconds in the 400m freestyle finishing in 4 minutes 54 seconds and also beat her personal best by another 14 seconds in the 400m medley! In the 200m breaststroke Harrison Jarvis, aged 12, finished in a time of 2 minutes 57 seconds – 8 seconds faster than his personal best. This incredible improvement means that Harrison is now ranking within the top 10 for his age in Britain!
Tilly Mayes, aged 12, swam a confident race this weekend – equaling her personal bests in both the 50m freestyle and in the 50m flyover. Martine Fran , aged 14, also swam with confidence – achieving a personal best in the 50m flyover, finishing in 30.7 seconds. Martine also competed in the 50m backstroke and 100m backstroke – finishing just outside of her personal best.
The club are also happy to announce that Martine Tran, Jack Conroy and Tilly Mayes have been selected to represent Essex in the East Region Inter County Competition, which will be held in Norwich on Sunday 10th July. They will be competing against the best swimmers from 12 counties in the East Region. A huge achievement for both the club and the swimmers involved!
