Leader of Thurrock Council John Kent set to quit

THE leader of Thurrock Council, John Kent is set to quit this week.

Cllr Kent spoke to broadcaster James Whale on his BBC Essex show on Monday morning and told him of his plans.

Cllr Kent said: "There is a council meeting on Wednesday. I will resign and the council will elect somebody to take over."

The council at present has 17 Conservative councillors, 17 UKIP, 14 Labour and 1 Independent.
