Palmer’s business students receive strategy training

By Eric White

LEVEL 3 BTEC Business students, whilst studying the theory on the Business Environment, were given a talk and presentation by their College Principal Mark Vinall.

Mr Vinall gave the students an exposition of the College’s Purpose, Strategic Aims & Objectives, Organisational Structure and how the College’s Structure is designed to enable the Strategic Objectives to be fulfilled.

The students were then given an introduction to the various Functional Areas within Palmer’s, how the vision is cascaded down to them and how they all work together to ensure that the Aims are achieved and the Vision becomes a reality.

The aim of the initiative was to provide the students with insight on how the textbook theory is applied in practice and to provide them with the experience of organising a corporate event.

Debbie Baker, Subject Area Manager for Vocational Business, said “With an increasing amount of our students aspiring to go into Apprenticeships, we want to send them out, not just with a qualification, but with sufficient understanding through enriching experiences such as these, to enable them to go into a firm and add value to their environment, because they understand the significance of the job that they do and how it contributes to the strategic aims of their organisation.”
