INTU Lakeside’s Debenhams store is set for an exciting few months ahead as it undergoes a modernisation with the introduction of 15 new brands that is expected to create 50 new jobs and expand the sales area by 1,500 SQ ft. The existing 130,000 SQ ft will also be completely modernised with all departments receiving new branding and fixtures.
Over the next five months a team of up to 100 contractors will be working with the store team towards the introduction of 15 new brands across most divisions, upgrading shop fits of existing brands, a new luxury personal shopper suite, automatic doors for better access, as well as two new restaurants that are currently proposed. The store will be open as usual throughout and will finish mid August 2016. The entire store will feel very different at the end of the project with only two brands staying in the same location.
The modernisation of the store comes after feedback from a Customer Listening Group which highlighted that the store’s customers wanted increased make-up brands and a bigger variety of young fashion brands. Debenhams has acted on this feedback and as a result will be welcoming many new concessions, some of which are exclusive and cannot currently be found at intu Lakeside.
Debenhams’ intu Lakeside store is one of the brand’s biggest stores and plays a huge role in the success of the business. Consequently, several millions will be invested into the store to ensure that this modernisation has the desired outcome.
Peter Moore, Senior Store Manager at Debenhams, intu Lakeside, comments: "I am delighted to be working on such an exciting project for Debenhams. I have worked at the intu Lakeside store for four years and know how important the store is for the centre’s shoppers which is why we are doing all that we can to ensure the store always offers an amazing experience."
Donna Callander, Marketing Manager at intu Lakeside added: "Debenhams is an extremely popular store at intu Lakeside and has been at the centre since it opened 25 years ago. The store’s modernisation fits perfectly with the centre’s upcoming leisure plans and will offer our customers even more choice when shopping with us."
