TWENTY swimmers from Thurrock Swimming Club, aged 11 to 14, competed at the East region age group championship held at Luton’s 50m pool. The meet produced fantastic results from all of the swimmers with 18 finalists. Throughout the day 70% of swimmers accomplished a personal best.
Harrison Jarvis won the 200m breaststroke in a speedy time of 2 minutes 56 seconds beating his personal best time. Harrison also finished in 4th position in the 100m breaststroke. Jenson Hurrell swam confidently in the 200m backstroke, finishing in a personal best time and achieving 7th place. Mide Olajide finished in 4th Place in both the 100m flyover and 200m individual medley beating his personal best in both races and Jimmy Taylor performed exceptionally in the 100m freestyle – finishing in 5th place in the 100m freestyle.
The boys 200m flyover saw Mide Olajide finish in 4th Place, closely followed by Jimmy Taylor in 5th and Aaron Lambie in 6th. The ambitious race was a triumph for the 3 boys competing. During the girls race Noni Thole finished in 5th position. This race was proven to be a fantastic achievement for all of the swimmers competing.
The 400m individual medley saw Mide Olajide finish in 4th position, followed by Harrison Jarvis in 5th – both of which were personal best times for the boys.
3 of the boys representing Thurrock Swimming Club finished in the top 8 positions in the tough 1500m freestyle – Mide finished in 4th place, Jamie Speers finished 6th and Aaron Lambie was placed 7th. All of the swimmers were proud of their achievements this race. The 400m freestyle also saw Jimmy Taylor beat his personal best and finish in 6th place and Jamie Speers followed in 8th place.
Thurrock Swimming Club continue to shine as they compete regularly in the East Region championships, proving their incredible skills and speed throughout!
