FRIENDS and family of a popular Thurrock student are raising funds for her treatment in the United States.
Nancie is 16 years old from Grays. She was leading a normal teenage life until February this year when she was diagnosed with a rare cancer (Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma). Nancie had a tumour removed in March but unfortunately still requires further treatment.
A crowdfunding site has been set up.
Th emerge on the site says "It has been a difficult time for Nancie and her family who are currently in Florida while she under goes Proton therapy. This rare form of cancer does not respond to Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy would have caused her to go blind.
"Nancie is very grateful to have been sent to Florida for Proton therapy, she will be there for 12 weeks having intense treatment.
"We are raising money to help with the long road ahead that Nancie and her family face through various fund raising events. We are so grateful for all donations received and Nancie would like to thank everyone from the bottom of her heart for your support."
