UKIP MEP and Aveley councillor Tim Aker made the short journey to Purfleet to debate the question of "In or Out’ of Europe with fellow MEP, Richard Howitt.
Cllr Tim Aker MEP said: "It was great to be arguing for Brexit at the CarpetRight HQ this morning in Thurrock.
"I would like to thank CarpetRight for giving their staff time to come to the debate and hear the positive case for Brexit.
"Richard claimed that we have controls over immigration but he knows this isn’t true.
"He is leading the charge for Macedonia to join the EU and several other poorer countries are on their way.
"We have to build a new house every four minutes to house current migration. It is not sustainable.
"If you believe in Britain and believe that we as voters should have a say over who runs this country then Vote to Leave and take back control."
