THURROCK Council’s Mayor, Cllr Cathy Kent, offered her condolences following the tragic news of MP’s Jo Cox sudden death on Thursday 16 June.
Speaking on Friday 17 June, she said: “This is devastating news. My heart breaks again this week, and my thoughts are with Jo’s family, friends and colleagues.
“I didn’t know her, but I do know what it is like to serve the public in the name of democracy whilst caring for a young family.
“Thurrock may seem far away from some of this week’s awful news; but we must stand united in defiance – not acceptance – of these barbaric acts.”
She added: “My deepest sympathies go out to Jo’s community, from everything I’ve read, they have lost a passionate and strong woman.”
