Athletics: High standards by Thurrock Harriers at Essex Champs

A MASSIVE well done to all the Thurrock Harriers athletes that took part representing Thurrock in the Essex Schools Championship at Melbourne Park, Chelmsford last weekend.

As well as gaining PBs and medals, many also reached the Essex and/or National standard, meaning they can wear the Essex Vest.

Intermediate Girls – Amber Pullinger gained a Gold Essex Medal in the 1500m with a time of 4.40.51s, gaining the Essex Standard.

Kendrea Nwaelene (representing Southend) also gained a Silver Medal after her 200m race also gained Essex Standard with a time of 25.60s.

Intermediate Boys- William Adeyeye not only gained a Gold Essex Medal in the 100m with a PB time of 11.05s, he was also chosen to represent Essex after reaching Essex Standard.

Junior Boys- Daniel Ogutuga gained a Bronze Essex Medal and a PB in the 100m with a time of 11.78s.

Theo Adesina took home a Silver Essex Medal after his Essex Standard time in the 80m Hurdles of 11.81s.

Junior Girls- Funminiyi Olajide jumped a fantastic PB in the Long Jump, with a jump of 5.55m, enough to gain a Gold Essex Medal enough to wear the Essex Vest and also is well over National Standard.

Hayley Instance gained a Bronze Essex medal in the 800m with a time of 2.23.83s.

Alex Gordon (representing Castle Point and Rochford) brought home a PB and a Bronze medal in the Discus with a throw of 25.66m.
