Thurrock Community Policing Report: June report

By PCSO JoJo Mitchell

DURING the month of May the Thurrock Community Policing Team (CPT) continued our Crime and Anti-social behaviour work, and would like to share some of our results.

In response to a gang related stabbing in Chafford Hundred Thurrock CPT put together ‘Op Quash’ which was aimed at focussing on the area of Chafford Hundred with a proactive approach targeting drugs hotspots and suspected gang members.
The team achieved some good results, including the arrest of two males after PC Glensman stopped a vehicle which had (allegedly) counterfeit money found in the glove box.

PC Watts was mentioned in the Chief Constables blog in relation to some great proactive work around gangs, including a stop on a vehicle linked to gang members, resulting in achieving some great intelligence.

Thurrock Community policing team assisted Grays proactive CID with Operation Jellicoe which was a drugs warrant at two addresses in Tilbury. This warrant resulted in 3 arrests, with class A drugs being and over £15,000 in cash seized.

Op Sacrifice, CPT’s nuisance vehicle operation saw vehicles seized from their owners for driving in an anti-social manner, as well as numerous other offenders given an official warning under section 59 of the road traffic act, with PCSO Woolford and PC Watts obtaining the most seizures (not that we’re competing!).

Whilst on Op Hornsman, which is our operation tackling modern-day slavery, officers located and arrested three people for immigration offences in the area of Tilbury.

Op Benison, our licencing offences operation, has also seen a good result with one person arrested in a Thurrock pub for possession of a class A drugs.
