THURROCK Council has rejected an application for a licence by a major music festival set for a few weeks time.
Just under 5000 revellers were set to descend on the Essex Sports Village in Aveley on August 13th and 14 to enjoy dance music at the Soundon Festival.
The three-person committee sat on Wednesday night at the council offices in Civic Road.
A few weeks ago they had given the organisers of the Soundon Festival in Aveley two more weeks to detail their emergency plans.
The committee heard presentations from Essex Police, their own licensing officers, Aveley residents and local councillors.
The committee had the power to reject their licensing application, approve or approve with certain amendments. But on hit occasion they have rejected the licence application.
