PUPILS at Tilbury Pioneer Academy recently celebrated Cultural Diversity Day, by attending school in cultural dress. As part of the day, parents and helpers including parents who come from a wide range of countries and cultures throughout the world, prepared a ‘food marketplace’ including a variety of cultural dishes for all to try.
Head of School, Mr Dan George, said “Cultural Diversity day is a fantastic way for students to recognise how diverse we are as a school and to understand that we are all unique. Mutual respect is at the heart of our school values.
Tilbury Pioneer Academy follows the DfE guidance ‘to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs’.
Cultural Diversity day encouraged pupils to be open-minded and accepting of all cultures.”
