Athletics: Thurrock Harriers enjoy degree of success at Cambridge

A mass of athletes travelled up to Cambridge University to compete in the EAA Eastern Championships this weekend.

The weather stayed dry for the day enabling perfect conditions for the athletes to bring home a wealth of PBS and 18 Eastern championship Medals.

U17g Amber Pullinger stormed the 800m with a fantastic time of 2.19.37s taking home a Gold Medal. Lucie Ball gained a PB with her run in the 800m 2.31.92s just missing out on a medal.

Jess Whitbread gained a Silver Medal with a triple jump PB of 10.54m, missing out on the gold by just 3cm’s!, also won a Bronze medal and a PB throw of 24.03m in shot put and a Bronze in the long jump with a jump of 4.91m.

Rhea Starvi brought home a Bronze medal in the Javelin with a throw of 21.51m, also jumped 8.94m in the triple jump.

U15g Ruby Bridger took home a well deserved Silver medal after a lovely run in the 75m hurdles with a very close time of 11.90s ,she also threw 8.26m in the shot put.

Hayley Instance ran a tight race winning a Gold in the 800m with a time of 2.22.38s, a new PB.

Megan Smith threw well in the javelin 21.40m a PB, shot 6.96m, hammer 24.61m also a new PB and Abigail Pain threw the javelin 24.72m, shot 7.72m and gained a brilliant PB in the hammer with a 22.63m throw. Danielle Ball threw the javelin at 18.58m and the hammer at a distance of 22.10m.

U17b Daniel Soyebo jumped well despite injury and secured himself a Bronze medal in the triple jump with a 11.69m jump,

Kayode Odimosu gained a silver in the 100m hurdles and a Gold medal in the High jump with jump of 1.70m.

Jack Exley gained a silver in the 1500m with a time 4.20.61s a new PB!

Liam Chivers won a bronze in Discus.

Charlie Splarn gained a bronze medal in the Shot put and ran a PB time of 11.59s in the 100m final just missing out on a medal.

U15b Harry Parker gained a Silver medal in the 1500m with a time of 4.39.93s.

Senior man Michael Shorthall gained two silver medals one in the 100m hurdles and the other in the 400m with a time of 58.36s.

U13g Demi Eves ran out ahead in the 800m giving her the Gold medal with a time of 2.29.72s.

U13b Dylan Harrod gained a Silver medal in the 800m with a time of 2.26.63s a massive New PB.

All coaches and parents at Thurrock Harriers are very proud of these athletes achievements.
