TWO very brave members of the Gateway Academy ran this year’s marathon, all for a very worthy cause.
Head of Phoenix College, Mr Matt Clark and Vice Principal, Mr Nathan Hunnisett, took part in the 2016 London Marathon in aid of Ormiston Families, a charity close to the heart of the Gateway Academy.
The pair raised a respectable £1,758 for the charity. Their target was £3,000 so they will be raising some more over the next few months with some more fundraising activities. Both have previously run the Marathon once, with Mr Clark also completing the Edinburgh Marathon and Mr Hunnisett completing the Brighton Marathon last year.
Ormiston Families support families who may require more support around the country, along with the school’s very own Mrs Helen Ellis, who works for the charity, supported the pair in securing their spaces to run in the famous race.
Miss Emily Sheridan, Relationship Manager, Individual Giving at Ormiston Families, said “We are very grateful to Matt & Nathan for running the marathon for our charity this year. We are looking forward to another member of the Gateway team, Mr Huw Breese, doing the same in next year’s race!”
