ESSEX Firefighters have been called to a fire in a derelict building which measures 750 metres squared on Russell Road in Tilbury.. On arrival, crews reported the building is 100 percent alight.
Initially, two appliances were sent to the scene but on arrival the incident commander requested the attendance of an aerial ladder platform and three further appliances to support firefighting operations.
Crews are using three main jets to tackle the fire.
Update 02:35hrs – Crews are continuing to use three main jets to tackle the fire. The aerial ladder platform (ALP) is now also in operation, helping to fight the fire from above.
Update 02:59hrs – Crews are continuing to tackle the fire. The officer in charge reports the building is now 50 percent alight.
Update 03:47hrs – The fire has been extinguished. The number of crews need at this incident will now reduce. Firefighters will remain at the incident turning over and dampening down.
Update 08:00hrs – One appliance (Billericay) are at the scene using one hose reel jet to check for hot spots.
