TUESDAY night was a restless night for most residents as temperatures stayed above 70 degrees after the hottest day of the year.
But at just after 2.30am and until daybreak, South Ockendon residents were kept awake by a constant thudding noise that just did not stop.
Many residents went out onto the streets, wondering what on earth was going.
By early morning, there was many a resident who had not had a good night sleep!
YT hopes to find out who it was.
A Thurrock Council spokesperson said: "We believe that the disruption may have come from improvement work being done by Highways England on the M25 clockwise carriageway between Junction 29 and 30.
"These works will be continuing until Friday this week. We have notified Highways England and are awaiting a response".
We have also contacted the Highways Agency and they are looking into it.
