Palmer’s celebrate 20th anniversary of sports centre

LAST weekend the Palmer’s Sports & Fitness Centre celebrated its 20th Anniversary with an open day, giving adults the chance to try free fitness classes, including boot camp and spinning, as well as free kid’s activities ranging from basketball and hockey to table tennis and bubble football.

The Sports Centre was opened in 1996 by Fatima Whitbread and has undergone many changes along the way. Grants from the William Palmer College Educational Trust and the Hew Watt Family Trust have allowed the Sports Centre to improve and extend its sporting facilities.

Sports Centre Manager, Carol Bennison, said: “It was great to see so many new people at the Sports Centre trying out our free taster fitness classes.

The Centre has undergone many changes in the past couple of years and it was a good opportunity to show people the great facilities we have here on offer, from the squash courts and fitness studios to tennis courts and astro pitches.”
