Orsett & Thurrock lost their third game in a row by six wickets away at Woodford Wells.
The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first. They posted a total of 213 thanks mainly to a patient 58 by Daniel Laird and a 53-ball 57 from Matt Hills. Things looked bleak with the score at 88-4, but Orsett & Thurrock recovered well to post a competitive total.
The hosts, however, made easy work of the run chase, winning with six wickets and 40 balls remaining. All the required batsmen made a score of some description, with Jonathan Gaffney the top scorer with an unbeaten 52 from 71 balls. Shahid Khan took two wickets, while Umaad Sultan picked up a solitary wicket and there was a run out from Paul Bennett. But in the end Woodford Wells strolled to victory. Despite the defeat, Orsett & Thurrock remain in second place in the 1st XI Division One table.
