Update: Lorry driver arrested as police appeal following fatal crash on Dock Approach Road

ESSEX Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses following a fatal road crash at Orsett.

A woman aged in her 60s and from Grays died in the collision on the A1089 Dock Approach Road, at about 1.30pm on Wednesday July 27.

She was a front seat passenger in a dark-coloured mini people carrier which had broken down on the northbound carriageway, close to the junction with the A13.

The car was struck from behind by a heavy good vehicle carrying a yellow container. The passenger suffered multiple injuries and was confirmed to have died at the scene.

The lorry driver, a 54-year-old man from Herne Bay, Kent was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later bailed until November 3 pending further enquiries

Officers were called at about 1.30pm today, Wednesday July 27, follow reports of a collision involving a lorry and a car.

A passenger in the car, a woman aged in her 60s, was treated by paramedics and the crew of an air ambulance but was later confirmed to have died.

The lorry driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
