GRAYS Riverside councillors are celebrating after success in their campaign to stop cars being parked on the war memorial in Grays High Street.
Labour councillors Jane Pothecary, Martin Kerin and Tony Fish all received complaints about disrespectful parking on the war memorial and resolved to get something done about it.
The three Labour councillors campaigned hard for improvements to be made, including the installation of new bollards.
Cllr Jane Pothecary said "A lady rang me very distressed about how many cars were being parked on the war memorial on Sundays. It was inconsiderate and disrespectful. It’s important that we look after our war memorial and remember those who sacrificed so much for our freedom."
