THURROCK Harriers have successfully gained themselves a place in the EYAL Plate final in September.
On Sunday, Thurrock Harriers young athletes competed against Barnet & Shaftsbury, Dacorum & Tring, Herts & Ware/Enfield, St Albans and Southend, coming 2nd on the day with 669 points, only 40 points behind Barnet & Shaftsbury. The U13 Boys and U17 Men came 1st overall in their age group, U13 Girls and U17 women came 2nd in their age group and both the U15 Girls and Boys placed 3rd overall.
This means that overall Thurrock came a very respectable 8th place out of 28 clubs after 4 rounds competing against various clubs around the Eastern region, overtaking clubs such as Southend and Watford, earning them a place in the Plate final in September.
A big thank you to those athletes and parents who travelled out to Allianz Park on Sunday to represent the club for the final opportunity to gain the vital points needed to secure a place in the plate final.
The young athletes competed in very windy and hot conditions, some in events out of their comfort zone but working as part of a team to secure the place in the plate final, whilst some getting amazing PBs too.
All coaches and the committee members would like to say how very proud they are that the team have reached the Plate final and are hoping to place well on the day on September the 4th.
