Billericay CC 1st XI 209-8
Orsett & Thurrock CC 1st XI 147-10

BILLERICAY easily beat Orsett & Thurrock by 62 runs on a glorious summer’s day at the Toby Howe Cricket Ground.
The home side won the toss and had no hesitation in electing to bat first. While no one scored more than 44, most of the batting line-up made some kind of contribution as the hosts posted 209-8 from their 50 overs. George Pavitt and Shahid Khan both took three wickets, while Muhammad Rahim picked up one.
Orsett & Thurrock got off to the worse possible start to the run chase as they ended up at one stage on an unbelievable score of 11-5. The lower order managed to bring a sense of respectability to the total as number nine Umaad Sultan top-scored with 36 from 72 balls.
A 51-run last-wicket partnership between Sultan and Rahim got the score past three figures, but in the end the visitors still fell well short and will be looking to bounce back quickly on Saturday against Hadleigh & Thundersley CC.
