STUDENTS from across Thurrock are celebrating their A-Level exam successes last week (Thursday 18 August).
Provisional figures show that the percentage of A* – E passes is an impressive 98 per cent with the percentage of grade A* – C passes for this year is 40 per cent which demonstrates further improvement on last year’s good results.
One in five Thurrock students received an A* or A grade.
Palmer’s College maintained an impressive pass rate with 20 subjects gaining 100% pass rate.
In the east of the borough at The Stanford and Corringham Sixth Form Centre achieved a 100 per cent pass rate and almost half of the students achieved A*, A or B grades.
Equally, in the west of the borough, The Ockendon Academy and Studio School students achieved 93 per cent pass rate and nearly 50% gained A*, A or B grades.
At Harris Academy Chafford Hundred, all entries across the 27 subjects on offer achieved pass marks, with 52 per cent achieving A* -B grades.
Ormiston Park Academy is celebrating their best results in vocational qualifications with more students than ever achieving distinction grades. 96 per cent gained a pass grade or equivalent.
Cllr James Halden, Portfolio Holder for Education, welcomed the good news: “I would like to congratulate all our students on the excellent exam results attained this year.
“These successes are the result of teamwork between students and everyone who teaches and works within the education sector.”
Cllr Halden added: “I want to wish the students who received their results today every success in their future studies and careers.”
