Plans for new railway crossing in East Tilbury

COGENT Land LLP has submitted a planning application for a new railway crossing at East Tilbury, funded by the provision of up to 1,000 new homes on land to the west of the railway line.

The proposals will address the long waiting times experienced by drivers and pedestrians at the level crossing, enhance local infrastructure and help to meet Thurrock’s housing needs. The plans also include 75 acres of public open space, a primary school and new healthcare facilities.

The submission of the planning application followed extensive consultation with the local community. This included design workshops, stakeholder meetings and public exhibitions. The planning application has been informed by the consultation activities and seeks to respond to local priorities, concerns and future aspirations.

Commenting on the proposals, a spokesperson for Cogent Land LLP said:

“The proposals will deliver significant infrastructure improvements for the area. We are committed to working with the local community to help alleviate existing problems – including the level crossing and the growing volume of commercial vehicle movements on local roads – to help create a sustainable future for East Tilbury and Linford.”

“We would like to thank everyone who participated in the public consultation. We were delighted with the high level of interest and involvement and would like to thank residents for taking the time to provide their feedback.”
