Thurrock Education Awards: Still plenty of time to nominate

AS the new academic year begins, entries are coming in thick and fast for this year’s Thurrock Education Awards and it is shaping up to be the best one yet.

Entries have been coming in all over the summer, but as schools and academies welcome back their students, their minds are focussing on the 3 October deadline – and they don’t want to miss out.

The Thurrock Education Awards recognises all those involved in education – from early years to colleges and from governing bodies to support staff – and are open to nominations from parents, young people and colleagues.

Portfolio Holder for Education, Cllr James Halden, is committed to carry on recognising recent successes and hard work: “We have recently recognised the achievements of our young people receiving their GCSE and A Level results and now it’s time to celebrate those who made it all possible.

“We know how important it is to get things right at an early age which is why those working in early years settings are also responsible for the success of students in later life.

“I’d like to thank the sponsors for their support for the awards and education in Thurrock: Cruise & Maritime Voyages, ALM Training Services, High House Production Park, HW Wilson Limited, Kingston Smith LLP, Palmers Solicitors, Port of Tilbury and Thames Oilport.”

The winners will be announced on Friday 18 November at the Backstage Centre, High House Production Park.
