Senior League Cup
James Lakey scored Upminster’s goal in a 7-1 drubbing at the hands of Catholic United. Newbury Forest knocked out local rivals Westhamians 3-2 whose goals came via Bodgan Idu and an own goal. FC Hamlets secure a solid 3-0 away win at Snaresbrook courtesy of goals from Jay Morris, Riley Richards and John Gilroy.
Luke Eatwell fired Hannakins Farm into a 1-0 half-time lead and when Chris Howard made it 2-0 from a superb volley it looked like Hannakins were flying. However Leigh Ramblers pulled one back via Ryan Lowe and then saw three players red carded. Although they had to play out the rest of the game with eight men the hosts went on to add a further goal from a Gary Ticehurst free-kick. The 3-1 win moves Hannakins Farm to the top of the table. Dan Gillard and Stephen Brown are the Harold Wood Athletic scorers in a 4-2 home defeat at the hands of local rivals Harold Hill. The result moves Harold Hill out of the relegation zone and was also their first win of the campaign.
The fact it came against their nearest rivals must have been all that sweeter as it also means Harold Wood are now done to second. Rayleigh Town are third after a 3-2 win at Buckhurst Hill. Mike Shelley, Ben Harris and Ricky Evans notched a goal each in the away day success. Julian Edwards scored the Canning Town goal in a 2-1 defeat at White Ensign; meanwhile Adam Collins scored the Bishops Stortford Swifts goal that was enough to overcome Manford Way. Ross Lamb and Josh White were the Springfield scorers in a 2-2 draw with Frenford Senior. Springfield had gone in at half-time leading 2-1, but Jake Marsh and Shane Wallace scored one apiece to make sure that Frenford Senior left with a share of the points. Jamie Reddington scores a 25 yard free-kick and then finishes off a fine team move by volleying past the Kelvedon Hatch keeper. Conor Okus then decides to go on a mazy run before placing his shot into the top corner. Defending champions Kelvedon Hatch however snatch a point in a 3-3 draw thanks to a Mike Daniels brace and a strike from Joe Heath.
Old Southendian move to the top of the table despite being held to a 3-3 draw by Runwell Sports, who see Liam Sewell bag all three of their goals. Basildon Town are second after a 5-1 success over Newham United. Marcus Bowyers bags himself a hat-trick, with the other goals coming from Daniel Dafter and a scorcher from Jamie Merritt that almost broke the net. Galleywood lose at Old Chelmsfordians despite the efforts of Craig Skipper, who scored twice but ended up on the losing side as Old Chelmsfordians went on to win the game 3-2. Billy Texeira and Josh Sumner score a goal each in Shenfield AFC’s 2-1 win over Hutton. London APSA drop to the bottom of the table after a 5-0 beating at Great Baddow. Dan Gage and Elliott Armstrong both score twice with Joe Nathanson also getting his name down on the score sheet.
Toby lead the table after a 4-1 win over Rochford Town. Ryan meanwhile are up to second after they were also able to score four times against Ramsden Scotia. Ashley Brown and Clifford Newbury-Harris both scored braces in the 4-0 win. Matt Allix notched two of the goals in Herongate Athletic’s 3-1 over Benfleet. Glen Jordan was the other Herongate scorer, while Mason Shave claimed the Benfleet effort. Bobby Port gave Sungate an early lead against Ongar Town but the half-time score was all-square at 1-1 due to a Jake Clarke leveller. Sungate then regained the lead when Spencer Pitfield rifled home a penalty and then the victory was assured when Tre McKenzie made it a debut to remember by hitting the net with a 20 yard screamer. Old Barkabbeyans register a 3-2 win over Lakeside with Ryan James scoring all their goals. Rodney Sarsah-Wilson and Lee Shipton score the Lakeside goals.
Rayleigh Town Res. smash eight goals past Leytonstone United that also takes them to the top of the table. Ricky Gill helps himself to a hat-trick, Lee Pyne bags a brace, with the other goals being claimed by Adam Dobson, George Vile and Stephen Barker. Leytonstone are at least able to score a couple of goals themselves via Harry Spackman and Paul Bergamini to make the score line a bit more credible. Roydon beat Shoebury Town 1-0 with Martin O’Rourke scoring the goal. Frenford Senior Res. share a point with Harold Wood Athletic Res. after their game ends 1-1. Frenford’s goal is scored by Nick Hughes.
