A FORMER UKIP councillor has gone back to his first political home and re-joined the Conservative group.
Stanford East and Corringham Town councillor, Colin Churchman was a Conservative councillor over ten years ago when he represented the Aveley and Uplands ward.
He was mayor of Thurrock between 2005 and 2006.
After a time away from politics, he joined UKIP and was elected as a councillor in 2016.
However, he soon fell out with UKIP over his role on the planning committee and quit to go independent.
This decision means that the Conservatives now have 18 councillors. UKIP have 17 and Labour 14.
YT has contacted the Conservatives, UKIP and Colin Churchman and await a response.
