Timebank coffee morning set for Tilbury

TIME Bank Thurrock is holding a free coffee morning on Monday 10th October, 10.30am – 12.30pm at the Tilbury Hub, Civic Square in Tilbury.Timebanking is a great way to be part of the community and to offer the skills or spare time you have to help others, and choose help you would like in return. For every hour that is given, people receive a Time Credit which can then be used to get help for themselves, for example a Timebank member could help someone with their garden and gain two time credits, and use the two time credits to get help with a DIY project from another Timebank member.Terri Bryant, Time Bank coordinator said “The coffee mornings are a great way of meeting other time bank members and you can hear more about the project over a cup of tea and slice of homemade cake. Existing Time Bank members will receive credits for coming along, but if you’re not already a member, you can sign up on the day and gain them too .”Timebanking has been used in a variety of ways for example giving lifts/escorting people to appointments, cooking, helping with IT, gardening, companionship and visits and much more. Each person decides what they can offer and everyone’s time is equal.
