STAFF, pupils and students across Gateway Learning Community schools joined together to raise funds for Jeans for Genes Day.The fundraising bucket visited every school within the GLC: The Gateway Academy, Gateway Primary Free School, Herringham, Lansdowne & Pioneer Primary Academies, raising over £1,000!Jeans for Genes is a special charity that raises funds for genetic disorders and aims to change the world for the children who are affected. Individually, genetic disorders are rare but together they affect 1 in 25 children born in the UK – more than 30,000 babies each year.Their associated health problems mean that genetic disorders are the biggest cause of death of children aged 14 years and under. Since 1996, the charity has raised £35 million!Donations from the public pay for practical day-to-day support, equipment, respite and events that bring families together to help them feel less isolated. More information can be found on their website www.jeansforgenesday.org.
