Thurrock Council get tough with “disruptive” lorry park in East Tilbury

THURROCK Council has taken action against a disruptive and unauthorised lorry park operating in Thames Industrial Estate, East Tilbury.Residents had complained of lorry movements late at night which were causing sleep disturbances.Following a site visit with ward councillors, officers served a Temporary Stop Notice (TSN) on three yards, preventing them from being used a lorry park without planning permission.Officers are monitoring the TSN very closely as well as other unlawful lorry parking on the site.Portfolio Holder for Highways and Transport, Cllr Brian Little, welcomed the action: “The disturbance this unauthorised lorry park has caused local residents is unacceptable and it is right that we have acted.”If residents want to build an extension on their house, they have to apply for the right permissions.”Businesses are no different and when they step out of line we will enforce the regulations. An application for temporary change of use has been submitted. Residents can view, comment on and track the progress of the application by using the reference number 16/01302/FUL at thurrock.gov.uk/planning
