AS part of their clean it campaign, Thurrock Council announced that they were having a clamp down on “rogue adverts”.These are the posters and banners that appear stuck to lamp-posts and railings around Thurrock. You often notice small ones near to A13 junctions advertising club nights and then there are also very large banners. Whether they have permission or not is a moot point. So we took a drive around Thurrock to see who had banners up and whether they had permission. The Estuary Festival had banners up both outside the Thameside Theatre and on Tank Hill Road in Purfleet. They informed us that they had all the necessary permissions. But then we spoke to Pure Gym. They had a number of posters across Thurrock including one on the Treacle Mine roundabout. We asked Pure Gym if they had permission to erect banners all around Thurrock. They would not comment on that however we have been reliably informed that the banners have come down.YT understands that Thurrock Council have not finished with all this and may be dishing out fines to any guilty parties. We will keep you informed.
