Football: Late show for Rocks nets all three points

Vanarama National League SouthOxford City 0 v 1 East Thurrock UnitedWords courtesy of Terry KeatingTHE Rocks came away from Oxford with a welcome three points to end a run of three successive drawn league games. This was no classic though, with a determined Oxford side keeping things tight at the back as they continue to scrap for points to move clear of the drop zone.Rocks looked the better side in the first half, but spluttered in the final third of the pitch, and failed to seriously test the home keeper.Oxford enjoyed a good spell at the start of the second half, and Lukas Lidakevicius came to Rocks rescue on a couple of occasions, but Rocks regained the upper hand despite two or three players turning in below par performances.Tom Wraight had a curling effort well saved by the Oxford keeper as Rocks pressed forward. The decisive goal game ten minutes from time as Wraight showed a great piece of skill, going past two defenders down the left before sending in a precision cross for James Walker to slam home.Next up for the Rocks is a home game with WESTON SUPER MARE on Saturday.
