East Tilbury: “The forgotten part of Thurrock” claim UKIP councillors

WITH THE East Tilbury Medical Centre set to close; the children’s centre also on a council hit list and gangs of feral youths marauding the streets, one might well understand why the two local UKIP councillors are angry with the Tory-run Thurrock Council.UKIP East Tilbury councillors, Sue Sammons and James Baker said: “East Tilbury seems to be the forgotten part of Thurrock. The Tory administration as well as the Labour one before that only remember East Tilbury when they want to cut services or build houses.”Cllr Sue Sammons said: “It is disappointing that East Tilbury will be losing both its Children’s Centre as well as another Medical Centre. In the future it is possible that we will be down to only one Medical Centre if any of our GPs retire. Having only one GP service in East Tilbury is unacceptable. Currently people have to queue from 7:30am every morning to try get an appointment.”I understand that there is a problem with GP coverage throughout the borough but East Tilbury is now particularly badly affected and I would hope that NHS England, in conjunction with officers at the Council will look at this with some urgency.”Cllr James Baker said: “I am deeply concerned with the increase in gang activity in East Tilbury. While I am aware that the Tories boast in Council that figures show crime is down, the reality outside of their bubble is very different. Only last year the Tories running Essex Police said they weren’t going to act on 97% of anti social behaviour cases. This has meant people aren’t reporting crime because they know the Tories have cut the police, meaning no one is left to respond.”Last year I was the victim of an assault in East Tilbury. We need a police force that is visible and a deterrent to crime but this is not possible since it was butchered by Theresa May when she was Home Secretary. Unless the Tories start investing in the police rather than cutting it, these issues and problems will only increase.”
