Lay-Bys in A13 and Dock Approach Road to be closed

THURROCK Council has received formal agreement that after months of local pressure on Highways England and long meetings with councillors and officers, they will now close the dangerous lay-bys on the A1089.Speaking today, Monday 17 October, Portfolio Holder for Highways, Cllr Brian Little, was delighted to hear that signs agreeing to the closure had been spotted in the area.He said: “Clearly the ongoing pressure coupled with the meetings officers and I have had with Highways England has worked and the lay-bys will be closed. Three lay-bys on the A1089 and one A13 layby will be closed permanently and an additional A13 lay-by will be closed with a temporary barrier.Cllr Little added: “Highways England have committed to starting the work on Thursday (20 October).”Despite some difficulty, there appears to be success at last – I’m really glad Highways England is going ahead with their original promise and for the latter I thank them.
