MC Beth-Hip Hop Shakespeare at Grays Library

AN interactive and exciting theatrical and spoken word Hip Hop Shakespeare Workshop is coming to Grays Library on Tuesday 18 October followed by a free performance at Thameside Theatre. The Hip-Hop Shakespeare Company is a music theatre production company which explores the social and linguistic parallels between the works of Shakespeare and modern day Hip Hop artists. Both Hip Hop music and Shakespeare’s theatre deal with what is human and the rhythmic tension of words. There is also a workshop running in the afternoon for those aged 11-13 from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. The free performance at Thameside Theatre will start at 7pm.Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhoods, Cllr Sue MacPherson, welcomed the innovative approach: “Events such as these are a great way to introduce a new generation to the works of Shakespeare in an imaginative way. “Interestingly Shakespeare wrote his works for performance, so this is a great way to bring together the new and the old.
