HOW many MP’ and local councillors can you fit in a Smart car? Well four is the answer when Stephen Metcalfe MP, Councillors Sue and Brian Little plus council officer, Roger Harris were good sports and took up the challenge at Bulphan WI & Bulphan Community Café climate change event Green Hearts & Gentle People.
The winners were the village school children with 14 followed in second place by Bulphan WI’s team of 7, and then Orsett villagers were joint 3rd with 4. Thanks to Kane Harrison for the loan of the car.
There were displays of the many ways the members of Bulphan WI along with those who attend the weekly café recycle & reuse items including the bra bank for Against Breast Cancer, foreign coins for the school, spectacles, bags, pennies for friendship for ACWW and stamps for Basildon Hospital.
In addition to the usual lovely selection of cakes there was one made especially for the event & donated by Occasions Cakes, Grays which Stephen Metcalfe cut after making a speech saying how much he enjoyed coming along to the Community Café & what a success it had been along with how pleased he was at the many ways both groups were helping to recycle.
