This event is aimed at young people and adults who are interested in technical backstage careers such as; production managers, directors, lighting designers, riggers and sound engineers. The National College event will show employees of the future a route to enter the creative industries that has been recognised by employers.
The National College is currently recruiting for the new Level 4 Technical and Production Diploma, accredited by University of the Arts, London. Applicants will be able to meet current students studying the diploma and share their experiences of the course so far. All visitors will be able to experience ‘have-a-go’ sessions in lighting, sound, automated flying and filming.
The National College apprenticeship team will also have an exhibition stand and will provide information on the apprenticeships offered by the National College. These apprenticeships in community arts, venue operations, technical theatre and live events and promotions are an excellent way to start a career in the creative industries.
As well as information on the National College, visitors will have the opportunity to network with leading employers in the creative industries such as White Light and the National Theatre. These employers will be sharing work opportunities and useful tips for anyone interested in applying for jobs or courses in the creative industries.
Jane Button, Principal of the National College said: “The National College has been set up to train the next generation of entrance level employees for the creative industries. We have courses which lead to employment or higher level technical skills training. Our students will become the future backstage technical leaders of creative industries. ”
