A LEADING UKIP councillor called a meeting to address the fears and concerns of residents and traders over mobs of youths in Corringham Town Centre.
Stanford East and Corringham Town councillor, Roy Jones hosted the meeting where the police fielded a number of questions from the public.
After the meeting, cllr Jones said: “It was disappointin gthe the police could not make any guarantees regarding police presence.
“There has been a clear rise in the numbers of youths and the number of incidents. I cannot help but link the closure of the police station to the sense that the police have deserted the area and we are left with the consequences.
“And let us be clear. The two Conservative councillors present (cllrs Tolson and Churchman) were part of a group telling us that recorded crime is down and cutting police numbers to ribbons.”
Corringham Traders have told YT that they just want to see more visibility from the police to combat the growing numbers of youths.
Yobs are in most Essex towns!
