DO you know a local resident who goes above and beyond to benefit their community? This Christmas, Thurrock Council is thanking those who carry out acts of kindness.
Community heroes will receive a thank you card from the Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Cathy Kent.
For an added personal touch, rather than simply put the card in the post, Thurrock Council will deliver the card to the nominator’s nearest community hub where they can collect it and give to the unsung hero by hand.
Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhoods, Cllr Sue MacPherson, said: “We know we can never identify and thank everyone who makes a difference in our community – but we want your help in trying to reach those we can.
“We are particularly keen to thank those who are not linked to an organisation, but help others through their own informal efforts.
“The nomination process is simple, so I really hope that lots of people will nominate their local heroes so we can thank them on behalf of the whole community.”
To nominate an unsung hero, please visit thurrock.gov.uk/unsunghero and the deadline for submissions is 5 December.
