Tilbury and Bury Town Share the Spoils
Play off rivals, Tilbury and Bury Town served up a good game and both sides remain around the play off positions.
Tilbury rang the changes again following Tuesday’s shoot out win over Harlow Town.
Bury stated well, which saw Louis Hawes in the Tilbury goal save well. Bury looked a strong side, but were denied by some good defending. Defender Reece Conway saw his effort well saved. On 38 minutes, Tilbury were awarded a penalty when Neil Richmond was brought down. Neil O’Sullivan made a fine save from Jack Carlile penalty kick. Lewis Francis had some good runs, but Bury also reacted well with some good breakaways.
Bury’s first chance of the second half saw Mayhew cross for Ollie Hughes who fired a low shot, but Louis Hawes saved brilliantly with his feet on the goal line. The visitors took the lead soon after when Ollie Hughes headed home from a corner.
Tilbury reacted well and took the game to their visitors. Tilbury drew level on 72 minutes when Richmond was again adjudged to have been fouled in the box and this time substitute Tony Martin fired home. Bury had a final minute shout for a penalty, but the result finished all square.
On Saturday, Tilbury travel to Heybridge Swifts looking to get back into the play off zone.
After the game Gary Henty commented “We didn’t start playing until Bury scored, but good character from the lads and unlucky not to win in the end.”
