A CLASSIC 1995 anime film, a brilliant ballet triptych and a comic classic from Pinter are just some of the fantastic events being brought to the big screen by Vue Thurrock in the New Year.
The upcoming line-up includes the classic 1995 anime film, Ghost in a Shell which is set to hit the big screen again in a one-off showing on the 25th January. Based on the manga series of the same name, the film is set in 2029 and follows the life of Major Motoko Kusanagi (voiced by Mimi Woods). In this dystopic future society, many people have superhuman enhancements using cybernetic bodies, otherwise known as ‘shells’. Motoko has an extensive shell system, making her one of the most powerful humans in the city. Sci-fi, animation and action fans shouldn’t miss this fantastic opportunity to see this classic film at Vue.
In addition to this action packed movie, Vue will also be treating guests to Woolf Works, a brilliant triptych for The Royal Ballet choreographed by Wayne McGregor. The multi-award winning choreographer combines themes from three of Woolf’s landmark novels – Mrs Dalloway, Orlando and The Waves – with elements of her letters, essays and diaries. Acclaimed British composer Max Richter (Infra, Sum and Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi, The Four Seasons) creates a specially commissioned score incorporating electronic and live music.
Johnny Carr, Alternative Content Manager at Vue UK and Ireland, commented: “Our live and event cinema showings continue to be hugely popular. We take pride in providing our customers with the best seat in the house for a host of sought-after shows and we don’t just feature acting brilliance.
In January we are also showing encores of the glorious revival of Pinter’s comic classic, NT Live: No Man’s Land starring Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart. The play follows the tales of two ageing writers, Hirst and Spooner who meet in a Hampstead pub. As the pair become increasingly inebriated, and their stories increasingly unbelievable, the lively conversation soon turns into a revealing power game”
