THURROCK’S Looked After Children packed into the Thameside Theatre to watch this year’s pantomime, Peter Pan, after the community dug deep along with Thurrock Council, to contribute and buy their tickets.
Accompanied by their foster carers and their birth families, hundreds of children laughed and cheered the cast on in true panto fashion.
The real cherry on top was after a kind local club donated £170 to ensure all the children could purchase a drink and a snack to enjoy during the show.
Cllr Sue Little, Cabinet member for Children’s and Adult Social Care helped secure the donation and attended on the evening.
She said: “Thurrock has simply out done itself this year.
“Thurrock has always been a very giving, community led area but this Christmas, this year, everybody has gone above and beyond.
“These children may have never before visited the theatre before now and let’s be honest a small sweet and the theatre go hand in hand.
She added: “I really want to thank The Orsett Pickwick club for their generosity this year – I saw each of the children that night and they all had such a good time.”
