THE perception of Thurrock as the dumping ground of Essex seems set to continue into 2017 with the discovery of another large tip overnight.
The tip is on Armor Road in Purfleet.
A number of residents went onto Twitter to express their anger and frustration at the continuing problem. This particular are of West Thurrock and Purfleet seems to have been a particular target.
Thurrock Council’s social media team swiftly responded to a report from a resident late last night (11pm, Wednesday 4 January) and within minutes put them in touch with the Environment Agency who are investigating all fly-tips over a certain size.
The Out of Hours Environment Agency team logged the incident within the hour and information has been passed to our Environment team to clear following a site visit for evidence collection. There can be a delay in clearing large fly tips like this one, as specialist machinery is sometimes needed as well as necessary investigative time for the Environment Agency to collect evidence.
