PUPILS from across the GLC were set an Autumn Attendance Challenge to ‘Improve Upon Your Best’, with the winners receiving £1,000 to spend on their year group however they wish. In total, 27 yeargroups took part in the challenge and the pupils, along with their teachers and Heads of School, were determined to be the top attended group!

Although the top three positions were very close, Herringham’s Year 2 took the top spot with a 3% increase on attendance, followed very closely by their elder Year 3 pupils who had improved by 1.8%. Third place went to Year 6 at Lansdowne Primary who had improved their attendance by 1.7%.

Head of School, Mrs Sam Otto, said “We are thoroughly delighted to get both first and second place in the Attendance Challenge. The pupils are now discussing how best to spend their well-earned winnings.”

Group Education Welfare Officer, Dominic Davison, said “This is the first year that we have introduced this challenge and we are delighted with such competitive results. We will be continuing the challenge for the Spring Term, set across the ‘Houses/Colleges’. Attendance has improved across the whole GLC, and with the continued support of both the pupils and their families, long may this continue!”
