Athletics: Power cut cuts short Indoor Champs

Thurrock HarriersSEAA Essex and Eastern indoor Championships at Lee Valley 2017

Due to a area wide power cut on day 2 of the Essex indoor Championships, many athletes were left disappointed to have had to miss out on winning a medal for their county. Some athletes were fortunate however to get a chance to compete before the centre had to close for health and safety reasons.

Natalie le Beau came 2nd in the Senior High Jump with a jump of 1.50m, gaining a Silver Essex Medal, she also came 2nd in the Senior 200m race, time unknown.
Reagan Cuthbert placed 3rd in heat for the 200m, time not known but was a PB and he qualified the final. Watch out for this talented newcomer!

Maisie Warman placed 1st in Essex, and East of England U15G SP with 9.62m. Gaining a Gold medal and a massive PB and an excellent performance for only her 3rd competition. She has another year in the age group!

Leisha Hunt U15g ran the 60m and equalled her PB – gained a Silver Essex Medal in long jump with a PB jump of 5.06m, she qualified for 300m coming 2nd position but unable to complete the final due to the power cut.

Endurance

In the South Eastern Inter-Counties Schools’ event held at Brands Hatch on Saturday Thurrock had two competitors in the field. Finnlay Lowe was a respectable 63rd and Demi Eves ran well to finish 44th.
