Uncertain future for Citizens Advice Bureau remains

THURROCK Council has gone on the record over continued uncertainty regarding the future of the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) in Thurrock.

At January’s cabinet meeting, it was recommended that there should be a £50,000 cash injection into CAB subject to “an agreed business case”.

But the issue became something of a political football at January’s full council meeting.

On Wednesday night, Cllr Gledhill said: “Not agreeing the Local Council Tax scheme changes mean the £100,000 that could have gone to CAB is a massive blow to them.

“We are still working with officers and CAB..and hope to have a positive announcement at full council (Feb 22nd).

“However, we cannot guarantee that.”
