“Catchphrase council” for a forward thinking Thurrock

WHEN you step into a meeting of the ruling Tory council cabinet you start to wonder if you have stepped into a training seminar for Werner Hogg.

It appears that the message is in the mantra.

Nothing new there: “Blood, Tears, Toil and Sweat”; “Ask not what you country can do for you…”; “Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime” to name just a few.

So, if you have missed them, here they are

1. Clean It, Cut It, Fill It

2. Give Tilbury Some Love

3. Doing More For Less

4. Survive to Strive to Thrive

5. Fewer buildings, better services

6. I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing

But if you go to the 28th minute of Wednesday night’s cabinet meeting, you will see portfolio holder, cllr Mark Coxshall explain the reasoning behind the plethora of platitudes.
